Gold coin with a detailed compass-rose pattern in deep relief

Custom commemorative coins from Longtian: custom commemorative coins for museums, scenic attractions, enterprises and universities. Our MOQ starts from 50 pcs. Sampling usually takes 5–7 days after the digital proof is approved; mass production takes about 15–25 days after sample approval. Price depends mainly on diameter, metal, relief depth, plating, enamel or print, edge treatment, packaging and quantity; we do not publish a fixed price list — each project is quoted from your artwork and quantity. Sample and mold fees are quoted per design. Payment is T/T 30% deposit and 70% before shipment (PayPal for samples); trade terms are EXW, FOB Shenzhen or DDP by quote. An NDA is available on request.

Commemorative coins compress a story into a palm-sized object, which is why cultural institutions, companies and schools use them to mark anniversaries, exhibitions and milestones. We handle the design proof, sampling and production, then pack for export.

Crafts and processes

  • Die-striking or die-casting in brass, copper or zinc alloy
  • Antique copper, silver and gold plating
  • Enamel colour fills and colour printing
  • Sandblasting, polishing and edge reeding
  • Laser engraving for serial numbers

Commemorative coins are struck or cast to show sharp relief on both faces. For stamped coins, a pair of steel dies is engraved from the obverse and reverse artwork, and blanks of brass, copper or iron are struck under high pressure, giving a dense, crisp surface. Die-cast zinc coins allow deeper sculpting and cut-outs at a different cost structure.

Edges can be plain, reeded or carry lettering; surfaces can be mirror polished on the field with frosted relief, antiqued, or dual plated in two tones. Colour is added with soft enamel, transparent enamel over a textured base or printing. Inserts, translucent windows and serial numbers turn a coin into a limited edition. For museums and scenic areas, coins often reproduce an artifact on one side and the venue emblem on the other.

Materials

  • Brass: stamped, warm colour, fine detail
  • Copper: stamped, classic commemorative feel
  • Iron: economical stamped coins
  • Zinc alloy: die-cast for deep relief and cut-outs
  • Plating: gold, silver, antique, dual plating
  • Finishes: mirror, frosted, sandblasted, enamel, printing

Brass and copper are preferred for collector pieces; zinc suits event coins with sculpted or open designs.

Sizes

  • Collector and challenge-style coins are commonly about 38–50 mm in diameter
  • Smaller token sizes suit giveaways
  • Thickness is set with relief depth and edge treatment
  • Non-round outlines are possible on die-cast coins

Diameter, thickness and relief are agreed together on the proof so that the coin strikes cleanly.

Packaging

  • Clear PVC capsule
  • Velvet pouch
  • Coin card or folder with story text
  • Rigid gift box with foam insert
  • Display case or frame for sets

Capsules protect polished surfaces from fingerprints, while a printed card adds context for museum visitors.

Customization options

  • Coin diameter and thickness
  • Edge pattern and edge text
  • Clear capsule, velvet box or display card
  • Numbered limited editions

Who orders them and why

  • Museums: medallions reproducing a collection highlight.
  • Attractions: commemorative coins sold at viewpoints and visitor centres.
  • Enterprises: anniversary coins and partner gifts.
  • Universities: centennial and alumni commemorative coins.

What affects the price (no fixed list)

Price is quoted per project. The main drivers for commemorative coins are:

  • Diameter and thickness.
  • Metal and forming: stamped brass or copper versus die-cast zinc.
  • Relief and edge: deep sculpting, reeding or edge lettering.
  • Finish: mirror/frosted fields, antique or dual plating, enamel or print.
  • Packaging: capsules, cards, folders or display boxes.
  • Quantity and numbering: limited-edition numbering is quoted separately.

We do not publish USD prices. Send artwork and quantity for a quote.
